The area surrounding Confluence is well known among hunters in search of wild game. There are two tracts of State Game Lands totaling over 12,300 acres nearby. There are also many acres of private land that may be used with the permission of the land owners.
Although all kinds of small game may be found in the area, grouse, squirrel, and to some extent, rabbits are the most plentiful. Many hunters are also successful in their attempts to bag a turkey during the fall turkey season and the spring gobbler season.
The most popular target of hunters is undoubtedly the deer. Whether hunting the forested hills or the open fields, the chances of locating one of these is good. For hunters looking for other big game, the annual harvest of bear in this area has been on the increase.
